Some of what I have been reading and looking at recently.
- 'NAZA,' short for 'collateral damage' in Hebrew, features interviews with 24 IDF troops about what filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor describe as 'calculated' mass killings
- In anonymous interviews with Secret Service eyewitnesses about Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, including the extent and methods of killing that have made civilian casualties astronomical, ‘NAZA’ is an anguishing testament to inhumanity.
- I think it is possible to outline a list of features that are typical of what I would like to call Ur-Fascism, or Eternal Fascism. These features cannot be organized into a system; many of them contradict each other, and are also typical of other kinds of despotism or fanaticism. But it is enough that one of them be present to allow fascism to coagulate around it.
- The Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion was established on 9 January 2026 in response to the Bondi terrorist attack on 14 December 2025. The Hon Virginia Bell AS SC has been appointed as the Royal Commissioner.

- The zero-sum logic that the Royal Commission’s witnesses have voiced through the IHRA definition is a colonial act of oppression. If the state succumbs to that logic, as every indication suggests it will, Muslim political solidarity with Palestine risks becoming not merely unrecognised but structurally criminalised. The full institutional protection of one community will come to be constitutively built on the misrecognition of another.
